Reed used in handloom weaving

Objectives : At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• identify different types of reed
• check the correct size of reed for producing fabric.

Requirements

Tools/Equipment’s/Instruments
• Reed metal - as reqd.
• Reed bamboo - as reqd.

TASK 2: Determine reed count (reed number)

1 Take one reed and place it in the straight position. 4 Calculate the dents in 2 inch (Fig 2)
2 Now put the measuring tape in your hand. Fig.2
3 Take the measurement of the reed with measuring
tape. (Fig 1)

5 If the dents will be 40 the reed count is 40.
6 Likewise measure all the reeds and write the reed
count in the below Table 2.
